Brick Bonds
Brick Bonds node groups are the heart of Trowel. There are four types available, representing the most commonly used brick bonds:
Stack Bond
- Bricks are laid in a simple, straight line, one on top of the other. This bond is straightforward and gives a uniform look to the wall.
Note
Stack Bond shares parameters with Running Bond, so please refer to it for details.
Running Bond
- Each row of bricks is offset from the row below, creating a staggered pattern. This bond not only adds visual interest but also enhances wall stability.
Row Alternate
- Alters the pattern's alignment from one course to the next.
LP Collection
- Field for selecting a Low Poly bricks Collection.
Use Hipoly
- Checkbox to toggle the use of high poly bricks from the corresponding collections.
Color Preview
- Activates rendering each brick type in different colors, visible in Material Preview viewport shading.
Warning
Please use only when needed, turn off otherwise to avoid export issues.
Boolean Geo IN
- Input for geometry used to cut openings (like doors, windows). Accepts either a Single Mesh object or a Collection.
End A and B Checkboxes
- These checkboxes allow you to disable half bricks at each end of the wall (if the wall is not a closed shape). This is useful when you need to manually connect walls together.
Outside/Inside Checkbox
- This checkbox allows you to switch the wall's appearance between the front or back of the face of the input geometry.
Symmetry
- This checkbox controls the bricks' placement in a row. When On, the row begins and ends with a full brick. When Off, the row starts with a full brick but ends with a half brick.
Common Bond +
- A combination of running bond with headers every few courses, commonly every fifth or sixth course. It's a traditional bond that balances both aesthetics and structural integrity.
Note
Common Bond +
shares some parameters with Running Bond
, so please refer to it for details.
C.Bond Alternate
- Switches the brick placement for header rows only, making them start with either a 3/4 brick or a half brick.
C.Bond Shift
- This parameter allows you to shift header rows up or down.
C.Bond Range
- This parameter adjusts the number of rows between header rows, changing from the default (commonly every fifth or sixth course) to any other value. For example, setting it to
1
transforms Common Bond into English Bond.
Flemish Bond
- Alternates between headers and stretchers in each course, providing a decorative and strong bond pattern. This bond is known for its historical use and intricate appearance.
Note
Flemish Bond
shares some parameters with Running Bond
, so please refer to it for details.
