Trowel Masks

Trowel Masks

Trowel Masks are selection tools that let you focus on certain parts of your brick layout for changes or hiding. They come in different types:

  • Line Mask
  • Height Mask
  • Object Mask
  • Noise Mask
  • Row Mask
  • Type Mask

Each mask node has two outputs:

  • Mask OUT: Shows selected areas.
  • Inv Mask OUT: Shows unselected areas.

Line Mask

This mask lets you create horizontal line mask. You can set it for a straight line or add noise for a more random, uneven look.

Line Mask

Mask Width

Sets the width of the horizontal line mask. The larger the value, the broader the mask.

Mask Width

Mask Z Position

Controls where the mask appears vertically along your wall. Adjust this to move the mask up or down.

Z Position

Noise_Position

Fine-tunes where noise is applied within the mask for a customized random effect.

Noise Scale

Determines how much the noise affects the mask's edge. A higher scale creates a more jagged, uneven line, while a lower scale results in a smoother one.

Noise Roughness

Adjusts the intensity or "roughness" of the noise, making the mask's edge appear more or less irregular.

Noise Detail

Controls the complexity of the noise pattern. Higher detail gives you a more intricate, random edge to your mask.

Color Preview

Enable this to see your mask selection in white when in Material Preview mode, making it easier to visualize where the mask is applied.

Height Mask

This mask lets you create selections starting from the top of your model. You can also use an Empty object for dynamic control over the mask's position and incline.

Height Mask

Mask Z Position

Controls where the mask appears vertically along your wall. Adjust this to move the mask up or down.

Z Position

Empty

A field where you specify an Empty object. This object's position and rotation will dictate where and how the mask is applied on your model.

Empty

Seed

Changing this number will give you different noise patterns for the mask.

Obj Mask

This mask type lets you use a mesh object to define the mask area.

Obj Mask

Empty

This field allows you to select an Empty object instead of a mesh. When using an Empty, the mask will have a circular appearance, and the Empty's scale will dictate the size of the mask.

Object IN

Connect either an Object Info node for a single mesh object or a Collection Info node for a Collection here to specify what you want to use for masking.

Obj Mask Collection

Obj Mask Offset

This value determines the offset of the mask, allowing you to adjust the mask's boundary independently from the actual scale of the object used for masking.

Obj Mask Offset

Noise Mask

This mask creates a selection based on noise patterns.

Noise Mask

Noise Position

This vector parameter enables fine-tuning of the noise pattern's position, allowing for precise control over where the noise effect starts.

Noise Mask Pos

Noise Scale

Adjusts the scale of the noise. Setting this higher makes the noise more rough and pronounced, while a lower setting results in smoother, less drastic noise patterns.

Seed

Changing this number will give you different noise patterns for the mask.

Mask Offset

Allows you to shift the entire noise mask up or down, providing control over where the noise effect begins relative to your model.

Row Mask

This mask targets a specific number of rows for masking.

Row Mask

Offset

Allows you to shift the row masking up or down.

Frequency

Determines how many rows to skip between each masked row or set of rows.

Range

Specifies how many consecutive rows will be masked each time.

Type Mask

This mask allows you to mask bricks based on the specific brick type selected.

Type Mask

You can choose from:

  • Base brick
  • Three quarter (3/4)
  • Half (1/2)
  • Quarter (1/4)
